Meet Dr. Kari Badwi

Dr. Kari Badwi, DDS, Cert Ped Dent, FRCD(C), is a board-certified pediatric dentist and the founder of BabyTooth in Calgary. 

A Calgary native, she was inspired to pursue dentistry after realizing how much her own pediatric dentist shaped her comfort and confidence in the dental chair. That influence, combined with her love of working with her hands and desire for meaningful, challenging work, set her on the path to pediatric dentistry.

Dr. Kari earned her dental degree from New York University in 2004, followed by a hospital residency at the University of Buffalo and a pediatric dentistry specialty residency at the Women and Children’s Hospital in Buffalo, NY in 2007. Since opening BabyTooth that same year, she has been dedicated to her mission of inspiring a generation of children who feel happy about going to the dentist.

With nearly two decades of experience, Dr. Kari is known for her prevention-focused, trauma-informed approach. She places trust and comfort at the center of every visit, believing that a positive experience matters more than completing a perfect procedure. 
Families appreciate Dr. Kari’s ability to explain care clearly, partner with parents, and put even the most anxious children at ease. She is an active member of the Alberta Dental Association, the Canadian and American Academies of Pediatric Dentistry, the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, and the International Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.

Outside the office, Dr. Kari enjoys traveling, yoga, daily meditation, and family life with her husband, Dan, and their three boys, Cooper, Jacob, and Justin.
