A dark tooth is a ‘bruising’ of the tooth because of past trauma or force – appearing often weeks or several months after the initial trauma occurred. It is not always necessary to treat a dark tooth, however, it may abscess and cause damage to the corresponding permanent tooth if left untreated. We generally recommend that these teeth be evaluated and monitored to avoid potential problems.
